Village Books is sweet on book clubs. What’s better than people coming together on a regular basis to hash out a great piece of literature? But in keeping with our commitment to the community, we wanted to do more than just offer an anonymous book club night. We wanted to nurture clubs in hopes that they would become independent clusters of people, meeting monthly in living rooms all over Roslindale. Our cockles are warmed by the friendships that have formed and the support and fellowship amongst our club members. The eight thriving book clubs that have hatched over the past two years is, hands down, the accomplishment we’re most proud of. |

We’ve learned that young groups are wobbly and unsure of themselves. Logistics are a huge stumbling block when pulling new groups together, so Village Books serves as a sort of club “incubator.” Hosting first meetings at the store, selecting initial tiles and setting up email chains provides a firm foundation for new clubs. By month three, the club is ready to set off in the world and host meetings at each other’s homes. |

• When individual members pick up title on their own
20% off
• When one member picks up all books at once.
(Must be at least three copies.)
• When member picks up at least three different titles for future meetings.
(This would apply if your club is choosing several titles in advance versus

Good question. Simply email us, or drop by and we’ll put your name on a waiting list. Several times a year, we give birth to new clubs, and you will be notified about the first meeting. Of course, if one of our existing clubs is searching for new members, we’ll tell you about those too. |
